Other Carriers

It is extremely difficult to stack different cargo shapes and secure them

Not having side-walls to contain cargo limits the user to carry only large pieces of cargo so it will be easier to tie down

Limited cargo capacity due to height limitations

With flat racks, cargo nets or tie downs are a must, and require some level of know how to use properly

Securing cargo with a lid or a bag may not be possible  

Box carriers require a large storage space when not in use

Limited weight capacity e.g. 150 lbs 

Having cargo on the roof creates wind drag which substantially lowers fuel economy

Reflectors my not be available with some carriers

Poor quality, thin tubing, and multi piece construction
